Meet the Maker
Hello!
It's so nice to have you here! I thought I'd give a little introduction to the face behind Hey Lenny. I started making ceramics over four years ago, attending classes at my local Torquay pottery studio. Before this I had very little experience with clay, I’d done a few one off classes here and there but the love hadn’t set in just yet.
I’ve always had a creative side and after high school I went onto university to study architecture and then interior design. Whilst I was finishing up my interior design degree I landed what at the time felt like the dream job in a small interiors firm. However, after a year or so there I soon realised I had itchy feet. Whilst I was incredibly lucky as a junior to be working directly with clients and had a lot of responsibility, I wasn’t feeling creative and I didn’t enjoy sitting behind a screen all day. I then found my way into interior styling, working on photoshoots for some of Australia’s best known stylists and brands. After a few years juggling freelance styling work and a part-time retail job I needed a change and the coast was calling. I grew up in Melbourne but for as long as I can remember, my Dad and I would drive down to the Surf Coast every weekend to go surfing. Surfing and the ocean have always been my happy place and once I moved down to Torquay my creative cup started to fill up again, finding so much inspiration in this beautiful part of the world.
I had always known that someday I wanted to run a creative business and Hey Lenny has been a culmination of finding my own style and learning from an amazing group of mentors. I’ve been very lucky to work for strong, creative, female run small businesses in the past which has given me the inspiration and drive to throw my hat into the arena as well.
Fast forward a few years to now and I’ve moved again to The Grampians, a beautiful place amongst the mountains with the ocean only a stones through away. Setting up a studio and working every day on what I love is a dream come true for me and not something I take for granted. I hope Hey Lenny brings just as much joy to you as it does to me, be it planting your favourite plant or your morning ritual cup of tea.
Thank you so much for being here, it makes my day!
